Culture during TEFAF
In the context of the international art fair TEFAF the Theater aan het Vrijthof presents duringtefaf, a festival with an international programme that will give an idea of the developments in European theatres. Augenspiel
On the first floor, a new display of highlights of the highlights from the collection ancient, modern and contemporary art are presented. Old and new are intermingled, with an open invitation to view them detached from context or theory.

Going south
The Rijksmuseum Amsterdam houses a major collection of 16th and early 17th-century Old Masters from the Southern Netherlands. A selection of 50 works will be presented. The presentation will include painters like Rubens, who in their day made their way south to Italy, where they found inspiration.

Live Forever The first overview of Peyton’s works of the last 15 years, from the small portrait of Napoleon Bonaport to that of fashion designer Marc Jacobs.

De Facto
The exhibition ‘De Facto’ shows an alternative history of photography based on the collection and research of Arjan de Nooy. The opening is Saturday 12 March at 17:00 hours.

Concert by Amati
Specially for TEFAF, the musicians are providing a link between Schumann’s romantic music and the treasures of the art fair. Idith Zvi has returned to Maastricht after three years. Turid Karlsen studied in Maastricht and is one of the leading sopranos.

Fado Singer Mariza
The world-famous fado singer Mariza has entered a new creative phase with her latest album Terra. In this performance she will not only be singing familiar fado music, but we will also be introduced to her eclectic interests in world music.

Conductor Composer
They have been around throughout the history of music: conductors who compose, composers who conduct. This was the inspiration for the young composer, conductor and violinist Marijn Simons when he was put this programme together. It includes works by conductor/composers such as Leonard Bernstein, Pierre Boulez and Marijn Simons himself.

Music for the Passion
The ingredients of this concert are Italian pathos, German virtuosity and French elegance, showing the various musical ways in which 17th and 18th century composers managed to represent the Passion. The repertoire includes works by Giovanni Felice Sances, Heinrich Ignace Franz von Biber and Marc-Antoine Charpentier.

Schubert à quatre mains
In this new concert, Jos van Immerseel will perform with his permanent soloist and piano partner Claire Chevallier. The programme is entirely dedicated to Schubert’s piano duets: original material, in which this skilled chamber music composer shows his most expressive side.

Endless Song of Silence (DANCE)
The choreographic works of Nanine Linning are a perfect combination of dance, music and style, dealing with familiar emotions. Endless Song of Silence is a brand-new revision of a duet that she created in 2005 when she left Scapino
